The BMW i3 EV already has 8k orders
BMW has invested heavily in their new ‘i’ range of electric cars – as much as £2 billion it’s estimated – with the ‘i’ cars being developed from scratch rather than based on an existing BMW model. The first BMW i to be launched is the compact city car BMW i3, revealed in production form in July, which costs from around £30k for the regular EV and an extra 10 per cent for the i3 with a range extender engine. Despite being revealed in July BMW has not yet officially put the i3 on sale, but that hasn’t stopped potential buyers lining up to palce a reservation, with more than 8,000 already signed-up for an i3.

It’s good to see a new MG. True, it may not be everyone’s idea of where MG should be, but at least Morris Garages lives to die another day and stays alive as a marque, which is more than you can say for Riley or Hillman or Humber or Triumph or Rover or Austin or Morris or Alvis or…
What this may be is the MG2 we snapped being loaded on to a trailer in China a few weeks ago, but there is so little detail from MG in the press release on the MG Zero concept they might just as well not have bothered. If we’re going to get treated to a new MG – concept or not – it would sort of help if we got some detail.

Jaguar has had a busy Detroit, unveiling not just the new XFR super-saloon and its one-off, tricked-up 225mph salt-flats saloon special, but also the revised XK range.Echoing the changes to the XF range (and in the coming months, most of the Jaguar Land Rover range), the 4.2-litre petrol V8 has been upgraded to the new 5.0 V8. Jag calls it the third-gen AJV8, reflecting its growth through the years from its 4.0-litre origins. The latest engine benefits from direct injection for more precise control over the combustion process.The end result?
